Krishak Bandhu Scheme

After assuming office as the honorable Chief Minister, various Schemes were announced. Among them, the Krishak Bandhu Scheme was announced for the farmers. Although initiated by the Department of Agriculture in 2019, in 2021, the benefits of this scheme started being provided to the state’s farmers. Through this scheme, the farmers of the state receive financial assistance twice a year, once for Kharif cultivation and once for Rabi cultivation. Additionally, through this scheme, the farmers of the state also receive insurance coverage.

The objective of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme

India is primarily an agrarian country, and West Bengal leads in rice production compared to other states. However, day by day, the prices of fertilizers, seeds, and other agricultural inputs are increasing significantly. Despite the rise in the prices of agricultural inputs, farmers are not getting good prices for their crops, leading to extreme distress among them.

Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the Krishak Bandhu Scheme to provide economic assistance to the farmers in the state and boost their morale. Through this scheme, it was announced to provide financial assistance to farmers based on the proportion of their land for cultivation. Additionally, through this project, financial support is provided to the families of farmers after their demise.

Benefits of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme

(1) Through the Krishak Bandhu Scheme, farmers who own less than 1 acre of land are provided with an annual amount of 4,000 rupees. This amount is distributed in 2 installments per year, meaning a total of 4 thousand rupees is given in 2 installments of two thousand each.

(2) All farmers who own 1 acre or more land are provided with a total of 10,000 rupees annually, distributed in two installments of 5,000 rupees each per year.

(3) Additionally, under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme, if any farmer within the age range of 18 to 60 years passes away, their family is provided with a one-time amount of 2 lakh rupees.

Who Can Apply

Now, let’s see who can apply for this Scheme, i.e., what qualifications are required to apply for this Scheme. In this case, the applicant must first be a permanent resident of West Bengal and must be a farmer. Secondly, the applicant must be between 18 and 60 years of age. And thirdly, the applicant must have land in their own name.

(1) First, you need to visit the official website of the Scheme. Then click on the option for “registered farmer’s information”.

(2) Next, a new page will open where you can choose whether you want to check the ID of the krishak bandhu Scheme using Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Bank Account Number, or Mobile Number.

(3) Then you need to provide the information of the document through which you want to check the ID number of the krishak bandhu Scheme. For example, if you want to check the ID using Aadhar Card, then you need to provide your Aadhar Number in the respective field.

(4) After that, beside the “I am not Robot” checkbox, click on the box and then click on the “search” option. Then you will be able to see your krishak bandhu Scheme ID (KBID) number.

(1) To check the status of the krishak bandhu Scheme, first you need to go to any browser and search for “Krishak Bandhu.” Then you need to click on the first website that appears.

(2) Then, on the home page of the website, you need to click on the option for “registered farmer’s information” to check the status of the krishak bandhu Scheme.

(3) Then a new page will open in front of you, from where you can check the status of the krishak bandhu Scheme by providing your Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Mobile Number, Farmer Friend Scheme ID number, and your bank account information.

(4) In this case, you need to select the document through which you want to check the status of the krishak bandhu Scheme, and after selecting, you need to write its number below. For example, if you want to check the status using the Voter ID, then you need to select Voter ID above and write the Voter ID number below.

(5) Finally, in the last step, by placing the correct checkmark in the “I am not Robot” box and clicking on the “search” option below, you will be able to see the status of your krishak bandhu Scheme.

Krishak Bandhu Scheme Death Benifits

If a farmer registered under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme is between 18 and 60 years of age and unfortunately passes away, their family will receive a one-time payment of 2 lakh Rupees. In this case, the family needs to fill out a form and submit necessary documents to the Agricultural Department office. The 2 lakh Rupees will be distributed to the farmer’s spouse and legal heirs. If the deceased farmer has four children and a spouse, each of the five family members will receive 40 thousand Rupees, totaling to 2 lakh Rupees. Now, let’s see what documents are required to receive the death benefit under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme:

(1) Copy of the deceased farmer’s Aadhar card, Voter ID, and PAN card.
(2) Death certificate of the farmer.
(3) Xerox copies of the applicant’s Aadhar card, Voter ID, PAN card, and bank passbook.
(4) Information about the farmer’s land, etc.
