In our agricultural-centric country, the economic foundation is laid by the hard work of farmers who toil tirelessly throughout the year to cultivate crops. However, despite their continuous efforts, many farmers still struggle with financial hardship. To provide economic support to farmers, various schemes have been initiated by both the central and West Bengal state governments.
In 2019, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a special scheme called “Krishak Bandhu Scheme” for the farmers of West Bengal, which typically provides financial assistance to farmers. However, this time, with the help of this project, farmers will receive cost-effective farming equipment for free. Let’s see who will benefit from this opportunity.
What is the Krishak Bandhu Scheme?
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee initiated the Krishak Bandhu Scheme to improve the economic status of farmers in West Bengal. Through this project, farmers in the state receive financial assistance of 10,000 rupees.

Who will receive this benefit?
Currently, all farmers in our state who receive financial assistance under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme will be considered eligible for this Scheme. Particularly, in the drought-prone area of Bankura district, where a significant amount of water is needed for agricultural work, these two types of irrigation equipment will be provided free of charge to farmers. The agricultural authorities of Bankura district have also praised the government’s efforts in this regard. They have stated that these two machines will contribute to the development of agriculture and provide significant benefits to farmers.
Total expenditure amount
The two machines provided free of cost by the government have much higher market prices. Currently, it costs 20 thousand rupees to install a sprinkler irrigation machine and 70 thousand rupees to install a drip irrigation machine. For poor farmers, it is not possible to afford these machines with this amount of money. Currently, through the Farmer Friend Project of the state government, these two machines are being provided completely free of cost. In this case, farmers only have to bear the GST amount. By paying only the GST amount, farmers will be able to improve productivity in farming.
